You are a rover driver!

Rovers on Mars follow programs sent from Earth. You plan the drive, then send it!

For grown-ups
  • Your child builds a short program from picture blocks, presses Send to Mars, and watches a 3D rover carry it out step by step.
  • Coding ideas: sequencing (steps in order), debugging (a hazard stops the rover and marks the block to fix), loops (missions 6 to 8 have limited space, so a Repeat block is needed), and left vs right from the rover's point of view.
  • The Rover Garage teaches the parts of a computer through the rover: cameras bring information in, the computer follows the program, panels give power, the antenna receives the program. A short picture quiz follows.
  • Real rover facts: drivers preview plans in a 3D simulation, messages take minutes to reach Mars, rovers use hazard cameras, and a Mars day is called a sol.
  • Every instruction has a speaker button, so no reading is needed. Keyboard: ↑ ← → add blocks, Enter sends. Progress is saved in this browser only. Free, no ads.
